One of Rossbourne’s strategic objectives is to move from a five year education program, to a six year educational program.

We are delighted to announce that we are now in a position to start the implementation of our new six year model in 2021. The purpose for this significant change is based on Rossbourne’s Mission, which is to provide opportunities for our students to enhance their life chances. Providing a six year program not only brings us in line with educational norms, it will help us better cater for students’ individual needs by given them more time to mature as learners and an ability for them to experience more specific learning elements that will come with a full 6‐year program, better preparing our students for life beyond Rossbourne.

An important feature of our new educational model at Rossbourne, will be registering as a Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) provider in 2022, enabling us to offer a choice of VCAL subjects and the opportunity for students to complete a recognised VCAL over 2 years. An alternative academic pathway in Senior School will also be offered for those students who choose not to attempt VCAL.

The move to a six year model will of course require some change to our curricular and co‐ curricular programs but will in no way affect the current student – teacher ratio (1 teacher to every 6 students), and our holistic approach to guiding and supporting the academic, social and personal development of our students.

This is an exciting time for our community and especially for our students, as we know that our new educational program will improve and augment the existing outstanding learning and personal skills development programs that students at Rossbourne currently experiences.
